Experic adds spray drying services

CDMO Experic announced that it is adding a pilot scale spray dryer spray at its facility in Cranbury, NJ, USA, extending the company’s DPI formulation development capabilities. According to Experic, installation and validation of the new spray dryer are expected to be complete by July 2023.

The company said that the spray drying services will complement its existing low dose powder filling services. In November 2022, Experic announced a significant investment from inhaler filling specialist Harro Höfliger that would be used for expansion of the Cranbury site to meet increasing demand for services related to dry powder formulations. Experic initially announced plans for DPI development and manufacturing services at the Cranbury site in 2018, and in October 2020, the company announced the addition of a thin film freezing manufacturing line.

Experic Chief Scientific Officer Justin Lacombe commented, “Spray drying is a key addition to our technology toolbox given the increasing customer demand for particle engineering services. The investment allows us to expand our service footprint in support of both solvent and aqueous spray-drying processes for small and large molecule products.”
