Committee member Alex Slowey points out that while the meeting is adding some new features, the DDL scientific program itself retains its traditional format and focus on emerging science that delegates have come to expect. He highlights the session on “Digital Drug Delivery to the Lungs (dDDL),” which will include talks on the use of AI and modeling in inhaled drug development, saying that he is looking forward to seeing how the latest digital advances can be applied to delivery of drugs to the lungs.
Slowey also points to the session devoted to the LGWP propellant transition, noting the appropriateness of recognizing the 70th anniversary of the invention of the MDI. The scientific program also includes lecture sessions titled, “Advances in solid state formulation,” “Inhaled Antimicrobials and Vaccines,” and “Site‑Specific Aerosol Delivery.”
Delegates will encounter another DDL 2026 innovation in the poster exhibition, where posters will be grouped together under seven different categories in order to make information easier to find for people interested in specific topics. In 2025, the poster exhibition moved to Cromwell Hall in order to accommodate more posters while remaining convenient to the industry exhibition on the same level, and the posters will return to that location this year.
Once again, the industry exhibition is sold out, with 120 companies scheduled to exhibit. As usual, the conference will offer a number of networking opportunities, including lunches and breaks in the exhibition halls, plus two drinks receptions that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, also in the exhibition halls.
Organizers are reminding delegates who are making travel arrangements that most who are traveling from outside the UK will need to apply for an electronic travel authorization (ETA). In addition, they remind anyone who wishes to book a hotel through the conference’s reservations partner that they need to make their booking by November 9. And, as always, the organizers advise delegates to be vigilant about imposters who claim to work for DDL and offer to arrange hotels or provide a delegate list for a fee.
