According to Silo Pharma, the company has received a notice of allowance from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office related to a patent application titled “Prophylactic Efficacy of Serotonin 4 Receptor Agonists Against Stress,” covering SPC-15 serotonin 4 (5-HT4) receptor nasal spray for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Silo notes that its license agreement with Columbia University for SPC-15 includes an exclusive license for the Canadian patent application. In September 2025, Silo announced that it would receive an additional US patent covering the nasal spray.
In 2023, the company announced that it had licensed soft mist spray technology from Medspray Pharma for delivery of SPC-15. In September 2024, Silo said that it had held a pre-IND meeting with the FDA regarding SPC-15, and the current announcement states that the company plans to make use of the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway.
