RDD 2024 to cover the latest OINDP development trends

RDD 2024 logo

From May 5-9, RDD 2024 will welcome an international gathering of OINDP experts to the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, AZ, which previously hosted RDD 2018. According to Richard Dalby of RDD Online, registration for the meeting so far has been strong, with a higher-than-usual contingent of delegates from outside of North America and Europe expected to attend. As a result, he expects a number of first-time attendees, a situation that he expects to “bring a lot of energy.”

One factor that may result in increased attendance at RDD 2024, Dalby says, is that for the first time, RDD is offering free registration to graduate students who attend with their advisors as long as they have an accepted poster abstract. The deal allows advisors to bring an unlimited number of students presenting posters without having to pay registration. Dalby notes that the organizers received over 115 poster abstracts, and he expects the poster exhibition to include 90-100 accepted posters, including 5 from the FDA.

With many new delegates expected, and organizers warning that scammers are targeting delegates with fake hotel discounts, Dalby emphasizes that reservations should be made directly with the JW Marriott Starr Pass and that the conference’s room block ends as of April 4.

The conference’s scientific program, posters and exhibition are divided into “knowledge spaces,” which for RDD 2024 are:

  • Bench to Bedside
  • Pressurized Inhalers
  • Dry Powder Inhalers
  • Nasal Delivery
  • Soft-Mist Inhalers & Nebulizers
  • Inhalation Innovation

Although the full program has not yet been announced at the time of publication, Dalby highlights several planned sessions, including one on high dose delivery to the lungs; a regulatory session on making safe, affordable, and effective inhalers available to patients; and a session on delivery of inhaled surfactants. Nasal delivery will be well represented, he says, and of course LGWP propellants, as one of the hottest topics currently, will be covered. The full program will be published on this page within a few weeks.
