Hovione partners with IDC on new intranasal dry powder delivery devices

CDMO Hovione has announced a partnership with Industrial Design Consultancy (IDC) for development of two new devices for intranasal delivery of dry powder formulations. According to the announcement, the capsule-based single-use and multidose devices will be available exclusively in conjunction with Hovione’s nasal drug development and manufacturing services.

Hovione CEO Jean-Luc Herbeaux commented, “Intranasal drug delivery is gaining momentum across a number of applications, including mucosal vaccination and CNS treatments bypassing the blood-brain barrier. Our partnership with IDC, a company with vast experience in industrial design, mechanical and electronic engineering of medical devices, enables Hovione to offer a complete solution for nasal powder delivery covering active pharma ingredients (APIs), formulation, filling, analytics and device design and manufacturing that address the needs of pharmaceutical companies and patients.”
