Principal Scientist, Respiratory Delivery, Drug Product Development

The Role:
This role is an exciting opportunity to be a critical part of a team enabling delivery of mRNA at an organization that is radically changing the biotech industry.  We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated scientist or engineer to advance the respiratory delivery of mRNA in a highly interdisciplinary and dynamic environment.  The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to guide unique considerations for OINDP and be a key member of the teams developing mRNA therapies using pulmonary and nasal routes of delivery.  Experience with nucleic acid therapeutics, nanotechnologies, drug delivery and general pharmaceutical product development is highly desirable.  The candidate should have a strong scientific and engineering foundation to advance inhalation drug product development. 

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Lead development of novel delivery solutions for respiratory routes of administration across OINDP devices
  • Establish and execute integrated development plans for inhalation products, working as part of integrated cross-functional project teams
  • Support development of aerosol test methods for preclinical evaluation of candidate formulations and devices
  • Manage external vendors to evaluate device technologies
  • Perform required risk assessments, implement appropriate mitigation strategies, and document approaches through appropriate risk management systems
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior scientists/engineers to develop appropriate internal capability
  • Advance platform and functional initiatives through direct contributions and matrixed leadership
  • Maintain accountability for project success and results delivery
  • Support authoring and review of regulatory submissions

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Degree in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years (PhD), 10 years (MS), 14 years (BS) industry experience in pulmonary and/or nasal drug delivery
  • Hands-on experience with OINDP development, experience with particle engineering techniques, aerosol science and devices preferred; experience with colloidal dosage forms a plus
  • Strong foundation in relevant engineering sciences or physical chemistry of aerosols and other colloidal/nano – systems
  • Ability to support multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude working on complex problems with creative problem solving and application of experimental design
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in project management approach to advance complex and fast-paced projects through matrixed (internal and external) teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, matrixed environment with rapidly evolving priorities
