RDD Europe workshop topics: new propellant, devices, and tech

Deborah Jones of Proveris Scientific
Proveris Scientific European Sales Director Deborah Jones will present a workshop on pMDI testing

Proveris Scientific European Sales Director Deborah Jones will lead the company’s workshop on “Control Strategy for pMDI Development and Release Testing: Factors that Impact pMDI Performance.” The workshop will cover the use of automated actuation systems and spray characterization tools to solve challenges in pMDI development from the early stages through production release tests. In addition to presenting a case study illustrating determination and control of critical actuation and shaking parameters, experts from the company will consider specific pMDI development problems presented by attendees and offer potential solutions.

In the H&T Presspart workshop on “The Future Challenges Facing Respiratory Drug Delivery: Stability and Effective Delivery of Complex Molecules and Combinations Meeting Patient Needs,” experts will discuss methods for achieving “key factors such as consistent dose delivery, satisfactory aerosol performance, human factor studies and cost effectiveness” with the goal of improving patient adherence. Technologies discussed will include dose counting and plasma coated canisters for pMDIs and the use of the company’s PowdAir Plus capsule based inhaler for delivery of complex formulations.

Both Lonza (Capsugel) and Qualicaps will offer workshops on DPI capsule selection. The goal of Lonza’s workshop is to help attendees to understand “how to perform technology selection to help shape their product development strategy and understand how DPI capsule selection and customization contribute to overall product performance.” To achieve that goal, the presentation will include examples and case studies, and presenters will address questions from participants.

Other companies presenting workshops include Aptar Pharma & Propeller Health, Biocorp, Emergo, Harro Höfliger, Hovione, and IMA. For full descriptions of all of the workshops, click here.
