DDL 2018 in review

New inhalers from Coalesce on display

Hovione’s new large dose DPI is shown next to some of the company’s previously introduced DPIs

Several new inhalers were on display, including a breath activated MDI and a DPI from Coalesce, which is completing its transition from a consultancy to a device company.

Inhalytic, led by ormer AstraZeneca and Mylan inhalation scientist Frank Chambers, was a new exhibitor

Hovione Technology exhibited its new large dose capsule-based DPI, which can deliver multiple inhalation doses of up to 8 capsules of 50 mg. The disposable DPI, which can be used for one-time or daily use, allows the patient to turn a simple wheel to advance to the next dose.

New exhibitors included Inhalytic, an inhaler testing consultancy led by well-known OINDP specialist Frank Chambers; Aston Particle technologies, a spin out from Aston University whose founder Afzal Mohammed presented a podium talk on the company’s dry coating process; and Nelson Labs, which acquired Toxikon Europe in late 2017.

Other exhibitors at DDL 2018 included:
3M Drug Delivery Systems
Astech Projects
Capsugel/Lonza
Emmace Consulting
H&T Presspart
Intertek Melbourn
Mpac Langen
Nanopharm
