Experic hires OINDP specialist, announces plans for new facility and DPI services

US-based pharmaceutical supply services firm Experic is expanding its focus with the appointment of DPI expert Justin Lacombe as Director of Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing Services and the announcement that the company has leased a new facility that will offer development and manufacturing services for a variety of dosage forms, including dry powder inhalers.

Lacombe has extensive experience in DPI development and was most recently Senior Manager, R&D at Teva. He previously worked in DPI development roles at MicroDose Therapeutx before that company was acquired by Teva and at Catalent.

The new facility is a 45,000 sq ft building located in Cranbury, New Jersey that will house research, cGMP manufacturing, and packaging operations. The facility is expected to open in early 2019.

Lacombe said, “My experience working in a small pharmaceutical company environment has made me acutely aware that contract inhalation drug product manufacturing is rare and doubly so for dry-powder inhalation (DPI). Experic is going to offer the type of the highly accurate and repeatable low dose powder filling equipment from Harro-Hofliger that I used in the past and will now use as a contract manufacturer. But we can go further than just operating the equipment. We will master the interaction between the powders and equipment and combine this with a broad understanding of inhalation product development including formulation, device assembly, and clinical packaging and labelling. It is this expertise that we wish to bring to small and medium pharmaceutical development companies developing DPIs to provide a partnership beyond just the supply itself.”

Experic President and Co-Founder Eric Bergmann commented, “Our vision has always been to provide the highest level of technology to those companies responsible for the lion’s share of development and discovery activities in industry today. Coupled with the small-company feel of personalized customer service and ability to create technical solutions to unique challenges, Experic is set up to bring the best of both worlds to our customers.”
