Themes for DDL2018 are:

  • Insights in respiratory medicine – New therapeutic opportunities for treating asthma, COPD and cystic fibrosis. Insights into disease pathophysiology, advances in pharmacology and better use of existing drugs.
  • Real-world challenges for inhaled medicines – Challenges and opportunities in the design and effective use of medical inhalers. Perspectives from patients, healthcare professionals and the pharmaceutical industry
  • Respiratory development: Thinking outside the box – Novel inhaler technology and new concepts for controlling or monitoring performance. Innovative methods for aerosol generation, formulation, measurement and product design
  • Aerosol science: physics meets pharmaceutics – The application of physics to the development of aerosol medicines, including molecular and particulate interactions, aerosol dynamics and lung deposition
  • Novel formulations and process technology – The composition and fabrication of inhaled products. Novel formulation or device components, new processes technology and manufacturing methods
  • The Pat Burnell junior investigator competition – Early career researchers present their data from the podium in a dynamic interactive forum
