Proveris Scientific spins off talking inhaler assistant technology to Uneva Health

OINDP testing specialist Proveris Scientific has spun off inhaler-specific talking guidance technology to a start up called Uneva Health, the company said.

Uneva, which will be led by former Proveris President Sue Farina, is raising money for development of the SmartGuide Assistant platform, which verbally coaches the patient to properly perform each step of inhaler use. The company is also looking to partner with companies that market inhaled drugs.

In 2017, Proveris Scientific joined the International Pharmaceutical Aerosol Consortium on Regulation and Science (IPAC-RS) as an associate member.

Farina commented, “The platform will improve the safety and efficacy of marketed inhalers, and help ensure consistent dose delivery to millions of people suffering from asthma and COPD. The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to help improve compliance and patient outcomes, while reducing healthcare costs is tremendous. Physicians and patients are anxiously waiting for the platform to be cleared for the market and see it as particularly helpful for pediatric and geriatric patient populations.”

Proveris President Chip Leveille added, “We’re excited about the technology’s potential and the fact that Proveris played a role in its creation. Uneva Health is focused on the critical factors that affect patient use and we believe it will be very successful.”
