Vectura to close former Activaero site in Gemünden

Vectura has announced that it will close the former Activaero nebulizer manufacturing site in Gemünden, Germany by March 2016, transfering many of the site’s operations to other Vectura facilities in Germany and the UK. Commercial production will be transferred to a contract manufacturing organization. Vectura acquired the Gemünden site when it acquired Activaero in March 2014.

Vectura Chief Executive Chris Blackwell said, “The decision to close our Gemünden site was a strategic and necessary one. It will rationalize our business operations and deliver more cost-effective production of our nebulizers. We retain the capabilities and capacity at our three remaining sites to support all our business operations. I would like to thank all the employees at Gemünden for their hard work and assure them of our continuing support as we prepare for the closure of the site in early 2016.”
