Marinomed gets Canadian approval for anti-virus nasal spray

According to Marinomed, the company’s Coldamaris anti-virus nasal spray has been approved in Canada as a “natural health product.” The over-the-counter product has been registered in Europe, where it is licensed to Boehringer Ingelheim, since 2007. Coldamaris, which contains a red algae extract called Carragelose, is approved in 38 countries as a prophylactic and treatment for the common cold, according to the company.

Marionmed CEO Andreas Grassauer commented, “The fact that our first medication is already so successful throughout the world confirms the effectiveness of our antiviral technology platform and our corporate strategy. This is now focused on the development and approval of other products for the prevention and treatment of influenza and combined products for allergy sufferers.”
