Principal Scientist, Particle Drug Delivery

Liquidia Technologies is seeking a talented technical leader to join the company’s pharmaceutical research and development efforts.

Job description
• Hands-on technical leadership role designing and developing novel particle-based product candidates
• Develop and execute strategies related to product development, e.g. experimental design, data evaluation and formulation of relevant and scientifically based conclusions
• Develop a high level of expertise in process development of nano-and micron-sized drug delivery particles
• Perform and lead laboratory experimentation across a broad spectrum of cross-functional responsibilities, including pre-formulation, particle design, match manufacturing and bioassessment in a hands-on laboratory environment
• Directly responsible for superior technical execution, both through direct experimentation and through supervision of technical personnel
• Apply scientific methods and observational and critical analysis skills to lead technical efforts
• Design, execute and deliver on program milestones and budgets
• Hire and supervise technical staff; provide technical/procedure direction, training and mentoring
• Exchange and/or present technical information of specific projects to key stakeholders
• Effectively manage technical and non-technical communications for decision-making
• Effectively manage partner relationships. Responsible for stakeholder and alliance management

Qualifications
• Advanced degree with minimum six (6) years of pharmaceutical pre-formulation and early development experience required
• Strong pharmaceutical sciences expertise, including thorough understanding of drug product physical properties required
• Exposure to multiple dosage forms and routes of administration, particularly nanoparticle, microparticle and colloidal dosage forms strongly preferred
• Experience with respiratory and/or vaccine drug delivery systems preferred
• Knowledge and experience in polymer chemistry preferred
• Research experience in novel bionanotechnology, drug delivery and/or nanofabrication systems preferred
• Strong experience with experimental design/evaluation; strong personal execution and innovative skills
• Must be creative, problem solving, detail oriented person with strong analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage and motivate scientific teams; previous management experience strongly preferred
• Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment is essential for success
