Process Design Engineer I

Engineered BioPharmaceuticals, Inc. (eBio) currently has an opening for an entry level process design engineer at its Danville,VA manufacturing site. As a member of a fast paced, highly motivated team, you will assist with all aspects of the design and development of aseptic manufacturing lines for the production and filling of dry powder pharmaceuticals. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with a bachelor of science degree in Chemical and/or Biomedical Engineering, an interest in process/automation design and 0-3 years of experience. He/she must be a creative problem solver, be willing to take on challenges that lack concrete definition, and be able to independently manage several concurrent projects – all things needed for success in our start-up, entrepreneurial environment.

Relevant experience/course work, facility with unit operations, transport processes, heat/mass transfer, and fluid dynamics are necessary. Knowledge of protein and polymer characterization is desirable. This job is not for everyone, but if you have a desire to work and grow in an exciting company as an integral and important part of an interdisciplinary team, eBio is looking for you.

eBio is a start-up company engaged in the production of dry powder pharmaceuticals for vaccine, therapeutic and bio-defense applications. Dry powders are an increasingly important formulation methodology as the pharmaceutical industry begins to capitalize on the vast proteomics work of the past couple of decades. Protein based pharmaceuticals must be carefully engineered to maximize stability and enable a wide array of state-of-the-art delivery modes. eBio was recently awarded a three year, $3M NIST TIP grant, which will be equally matched to execute the proposed $6M grant project. Though in our infancy, we expect to quickly grow and be among the leading dry powder processing companies in the world.
