Aptar opens new nasal/pulmonary device manufacturing facility in India

Aptar Pharma has opened a new manufacturing facility in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, India, where it will produce the DF30 metering valve for pressurized metered dose inhalers (MDIs) and spray pump assemblies for nasal spray delivery. The site was officially declared open on January 21, 2012 with a ceremony attended by the president of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), C. Gopalakrishna Murty, and other officials.

Aptar, which has had a presence in Mumbai since 1999, says that it “will become a key local employer” and that it plans a number of new hires in addition to the 30 employees already working for Aptar Pharma India.

Marc Prieur, President of Aptar Pharma Asia, commented, “With the launch of the second Aptar Pharma manufacturing site in Asia, after Suzhou in China, we are on track to meet our main objective of better serving Indian customers by providing locally manufactured devices. This state-of-the-art manufacturing site, along with a highly skilled local team, shows Aptar Pharma’s strong commitment to the Indian Pharmaceutical industry.”
