British Pharmacopoeia adds working party for inhaled products, seeks input

According to the British Pharmacopoeia website:

“The British Pharmacopoeia Commission has recently endorsed the formation of a new Working Party for Inhaled Products (IP). The remit of the Working Party will be to review the current published monographs for Inhaled Products and associated General Monographs and Supplementary Chapters.”

“Stakeholders are invited to submit any comments to the Working Party for consideration via e-mail (bpcom@mhra.gsi.gov.uk).”

According to information posted on LinkedIn, the group is “looking to update existing monographs so that they are relevant to currently marketed products as well as harmonising the test methods (fine particle dose in particular) to be applied to the different dosage forms.” The question of the metered dose vs. the delivered dose is one of the issues under consideration, and the next meeting of the new working party will be held November 17, 2011.
